Stop Puppy Mills!
It's hard to walk past a pet shop in the mall when you know they have cute little puppies. You may think you'd be doing that puppy a favor by purchasing it in order to get it out of that cage.
Please Don't Do It! Let's stop and think about it's mother and father. The parents of those cute puppies live in deplorable conditions with no thought to their health, inherited defects, or the conditions they live in. They are there for one purpose....GREED.
Everytime you purchase a puppy from a pet shop, you create a demand for more of the same breed! That means the mother will be bred again and again and again. It doesn't matter if she's bred by her father or brother, just as long as she has puppies!
It doesn't matter if the mill dogs have open wounds, botched amputated legs, hereditary defects, blind, missing an eye from infection, underweight because their teeth are so bad it hurts to eat, or sleeping in their own fecal matter....just as long as they keep producing puppies for pet shops!
Their only relief? For you to stop creating a demand for their off-spring or Death.
I could go on and on, but it all comes down to one thing...
So the next time you go past a pet shop....do just that...PASS it!
Also stay away from the "backyard" breeder who just breeds because they want a puppy out of Fifi. That is NOT being responsible!
Search for a reputable breeder, a rescue organization, or your local animal shelter.
And please remember, just because a dog is A.K.C. registered, doesn't mean it's a quality dog. Be a responsible owner and spay/neuter your pets.
